BLIND DEMOCRACY
BLIND DEMOCRACY
200 died 800 crippled as 13 blasts ruptured the most coveted financial capital of India in 1993. Structures to blood everything got floored to taste dust. The world’s largest democracy looked handicapped as the cries of the howling mother and the panacea of the orphan shattered the walls of the great parliament. There were statements all the way from top notch officials to the white robed ‘gentlemen’ which gradually overlooked the bleeding wounds and the deadly scars on the minds and bodies of people of my mother land. Investigations went on for 13 long years to bring the criminals under law. Ultimately after a lot of toil and hard work of the police, some success was achieved but only a handful of the pawns of this mastermind could be laid hand upon by the law. The big boots of this game are still able to hide their faces with their financial and political power. Should we blame it always on the police for it or some one else should be held responsible for? The question still remains unanswered for decades.
A close associate of Dawood Ibrahim, the uncrowned king of underworld, himself the prince of pile of human carcasses, the wretched don, Abu Salem dawned on the Indian horizon causing the deadly massacre of 1993 Mumbai blast. Involved in numerous murder and extortion cases and also alleged with the murder of the famous producer Gulshan Kumar, master of disguise he operated a big underworld racket terrifying the common man of India for long until he was caught by Interpol in 2002 at Portugal and was deported to India for trial and punishment. But the irony is he is still not being proved guilty and most ironical of all, the murderer of hundreds of Indians is now going to become a leader of them vowing good for them. His decision to contest the upcoming UP assembly election from Mubarakpur constituency doesn’t show his brazenness but the folly of Indian Political System.
The Indian Political System has paved a new pathway, a new escape route from prisons to palace. There are lists of MPs and MLAs who are accused of cases but the scams and scandals still keep decorating the police files, hard to come to light , even harder to come under jurisdiction.
You must be thinking that why am I getting so open in revealing my thoughts, as writers are supposed to be diplomatic and present coated views. But we have become accustomed not to understand or pretending not to understand the depth of words but having a go on the coat of it.
Democracy is of the people, for the people and by the people. But we always look for, following normal human psychology, is for the people. We keep bragging loud and silent about the corrupt politicians. And in the process miss the critical point that we are at a bigger fault as we by our power of vote choose them. Very sad to say that this is not new as we have been doing it for last 59 years. And let me tell you; no warn you that we are going to make our most unforgivable blunder by electing Abu Salem an MLA. A butcher can never be shepherd, identify the hermit crab and rise to relive “Mera Bharat Mahan” in true sense.
